Mission Bay Elementary School Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Join the celebration as the San Francisco Unified School District cuts the ribbon on Mission Bay Elementary School, the neighborhood’s first public elementary school. The ceremony takes place at the new campus at 1415 Owens Street.

The school opens its doors to students on Monday, August 17, the first day of the 2026-27 school year district-wide and the first day of classes ever at Mission Bay Elementary. Getting here took more than a decade of advocacy by neighborhood leaders and community members, delivering on a commitment made in the 1998 master plan for Mission Bay.

The school will serve Mission Bay and adjacent eastern neighborhoods, where new housing is bringing a growing number of families with kindergarten and elementary school-aged children. Let’s go, Mission Bay!
